About Jonno Walmsley
Jonno's first real photographic adventure was at the 2001 Australian Formula One Grnd Prix. Using a Canon Eos 500n 35mm film camera, with standard Canon lenses Jonno managed to capture some great images. After a few years break, and the arrival of some great Canon Digital SLRs to the consumer market, the passion returned, with more and more great photographs emerging from the hands of this up and coming Photographer.
In his words
I have always been fascinated by photography and the effects that can be achieved
with depth of field and the right lighting etc. I feel this comes through in my
Macro work especially, but also a lot in my Nature photography. I love a nice calming
stroll through the bush, seeing the vast array of wildlife and trying to capture
that moment, to be remembered for all time. Photography is one of the most powerful
tools available to mankind to capture that one perfect moment, and let it live on
through the ages.
Motorsport and cars have been a big part of my life. Some of my earliest memories
are of getting up at 4am to go to the track and see the old Group A Touring Cars.
I guess it was only natural that I would eventually combine Photography and Motorsport.
I have been lucky enough to have taken some great Action shots, including the
Galant VR4 crash at the 2007 Rally
of Canberra. I am excited to be working with Bender and the guys from Team Cunningstunts,
and providing photographic coverage of more of their events.
So what lies ahead? Obviously I hope to continue taking photographs of the things I
love. Motorsport, Nature and Macro photography will no doubt continue to go on as
per normal, but I also intend to branch out a little, and dabble in some portraits,
and other, more planned photography, as opposed to reacting to the moment like I do
with most of my current "Action" work.
